  • Reports around the Room

Al Wills –  acknowledged the recent 2019 Regional Indoor Championships that was coordinated by Sergey.  High participation and notable rankings by club members.

Helena – new butts have been ordered/paid for through Whitetail – still waiting for their arrival. Company has been advised that the courier delivering the butts to the range needs to alert the club as to their arrival so someone can meet them at the range. Accounts with BCAA have been reconciled.  Has been advised that gym rental with SCP has gone up effective April 2019 to $45/hour and will go up again in September.  Has many group lessons booked for the spring, and Friday classes are all full.

Greg Cargill – 25 – 30 kids at JOP every Sunday.  Parents are wanting to shoot with their kids during JOP – on trial basis for now.  JOP continuing in the summer months will be discussed in the future due to availability of coaches and historical lack of participation.

Ellen – no report

Solly – finalized the April 7 JOP Indoor Championships with  BCAA – $20 entree fee, Dave Ball to Judge. BCAA(Sonia) to send out promo; club will support.

Lisa – no report

Larry – report read by Lisa in his absence – current membership at 133 members. Fees for memberships and BC Indoors coming through paypal – can do a report for Helena when needed after registration cut-off.

Kendra – site for BC indoors up and running, merchandise section to go up soon. Eventbrite page set up. Coordinated at Facebook campaign for BC Indoors which brought attention from Alberta and Washington. Email ‘contact us’ section on regular website fine-tuned.

Vesa –  no report

Greg Birtwistle – new locks and keys for shed.

Al Anderson – lock at shed at gym left open over night on a recent Saturday night. Who and why? Very concerning.

Al Wills – regretfully informed club of the passing of fellow long-time member Mike Hughes on February 8th.

  • Business Arising from the Minutes

Al Wills – 2019 BC Indoors – 78 registrations so far. Shared photos of shirts to be sold. Pins ordered.  This section of site to go up next week. Mary Wills is organizing volunteers. Bruce – trailer. Vesa – set up nets in other direction in facility.   2019 Regional Indoors – 26 participants/750 participants nationally – great turnout, and the time worked out perfect for having one shooting line.  2021 Nationals – to propose to Malahat for field and 3D course. Discussions surrounding pros/cons about hosting. February 2021 start planning committee. Need to buy new foam animals approx $30,000+.

Motion by Bruce Somers to submit application of interest to BCAA for Canadian Target and Canadian 3D tournament. S. Greg Birtwistle. All in favour. Subsequent discussions have led us not to bid for the 3D, but only the Target.

  • New Business

Al Wills – 2022 Invictus Games – Peter Lawless contacted our club to host. Club will support. All agreed unanimously.

Discussions surrounding having a memorial bag course shoot and reception in honour of Mike Hughes, having a picnic table with commemorative plaque as well as the club donating $150 to Archery Canada for the Book of Remembrance honouring Mike Hughes.
