Hanging Out at the Range

Outdoor season is in FULL swing, so here are a few reminders when hanging out at the range:

-Please help keep the range beautiful and take your garbage home with you. If the target you are shooting at is shot out, take it home for recycle. If you see old targets etc on the ground, please pick them up!

-We do not have a caretaker, so it is up to all of us to ‘chip in’

-Please wear your membership card visibly while you are on the range. It makes it easier for us to know who is a member and then only challenge those who are not.

Full rules are available online at http://www.archerycanada.ca/en/tournament-information/outdoor-mailmatch-rules

The cost to participate is $10 for Victoria Bowmen members.  Please contact Victoria Bowmen Mail Match Coordinator, Brad Barclay <yaztromo@gmail.com> to register and for more details.

here is a mailbox in the breeze-way between the sheds containing rules and scorecards.  Once registered, one shoot per Sunday-through-Saturday week can be submitted and left in the mailbox for Brad to collect. Double scoring and accompanying signatures are required at all times.

Be sure to give it a try!

JOP – New Directors

Junior archers – don’t forget that JOP is every Sunday 3 – 4:30pm at the range, with set-up starting at 2:30 (unless otherwise noted on the website and/or facebook).  New directors Greg Cargill and Solly Lazar are excited to get our junior archers active and shooting, so be sure to come out and get learning and practicing! Bring a hat, water and sunscreen. Greg and Solly can always be emailed at JOP@victoriabowmen.com

SAVE THE DATE! Open House Sunday July 29, 2018 1 – 3pm

A plan is in the works for an Open House at the range, inviting and engaging our neighbors living in the area.  The plan is for a hot dog bbq, display of club history and bows, as well as archery demonstrations.  Folks will be needed to display their bows, talk about their respective archery discipline – compound, traditional, barebow, recurve, etc – as well as folks to talk about the club and archery as a whole. Please consider coming out and participating! Contact Lisa Lange at lisa.lange@shaw.ca

The Bag Course Work Party

Our club’s bag course is looking a little overgrown and is in desperate need of a spa day! A haircut and little TLC from a few folks would make the bag course a much more enjoyable place to shoot! Doug Linton is coordinating a Bag Course Work Party, with the hope of maybe coordinating a special shoot in the future. Please contact him at dlinton@shaw.ca or call (250) 727-0216 so a date for the work party can be arranged. Any help is great help!

Happy shooting this summer and don’t forget water, sunscreen and bug spray!
