Here is the latest news of what’s happening in the club! LOTS of good stuff!

Christmas Shoot for December 10, 2017 during Club Shoot – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

A tentative plan to have even a potluck-type Christmas Shoot during the regular Sunday afternoon club shoot on Sunday December 10 at 3pm has been proposed – Billy Sanderson will be getting it going, but could greatly use a few helping hands. Please contact him at  or just look for the red-bearded compound archer!

Membership Renewals for 2018 Due

Now is the time to renew your Victoria Bowmen membership for 2018. You can do it most conveniently directly from the website via PayPal and a credit card:

For other methods (cash, cheque) please see that same website page. If you have changed your address, telephone number or email, please email a note to ““.

Sunday Shooting Times – Extended!

The regular Sunday club shoot is still from 3 until 4:30pm, but as a trial basis, all members are welcome to shoot in the other half of the gym during the JOP shoot from 1:30 onward – regular whistles to be observed and acted on.

BC Indoor Championships: March 30 – April 1, 2018

The club is hosting the 2018 BC Indoor Championships, the venue being the Juan De Fuca Curling Rink.  Committees have been formed, and much help is still greatly needed.  ALL members are encouraged to shoot at this event that rarely comes to the Island. But don’t worry – if you volunteer you WILL STILL GET TO SHOOT in the tournament.  Al Wills is coordinating this event. Much-welcomed volunteers can contact him at if they can assist in the lead up to and/or the dates of the event (the latter being the most important).  Looking for people to assist with sponsorship drives (Al can explain), scoring/registration/equipment – other committees to be announced.

If participating in a tournament has always been a curiosity for you, this is the one to try – no travel, on home turf with your own club members at a tournament hosted by your own club, shooting indoors at 18m (just like our regular indoor club shoots) – what more could an archer ask for!?
So get practicing – registration details to come out in the next while – and most importantly please consider giving just a little bit of your time to help make this rare Island event happen.

November Orientation and Information Sessions

Victoria Bowmen’s next monthly orientation and archery information session is Sunday November 26, 2017 at 1:30 in the Dogwood Room at Saanich Commonwealth Rec Centre.
The purpose of these get-togethers is to provide information to new members on the club and the ranges and to answer questions any club member may have about archery – equipment, shoots, etc.
Join us, enjoy some cookies and juice (provided), and talk about archery. Everyone is welcome.
We hope these sessions will be informal, useful and fun. We won’t be doing any shooting or formal coaching as part of the get-together, however you are welcome to just drop by with your questions.
Hosts: Helena, Lisa, and Rick
