Victoria Bowmen Newsletter June 2008

Here is the latest news for the Victoria Bowmen as of our last meeting on June 23rd.

Pizza and Beer 2008 – After our successful Pizza and Beer night last year, we are going to keep it going, plan on attending the next ones July 16 and August 13, come out and shoot by 1900 (7PM) and then, after shooting, we’ll retire to the club house for eats and fun.

JOP 3D – We want to show our younger members the world of 3D, so we are hosting a JOP 3D shoot for them on July 26th at 10AM. Just bring yourself and your equipment. All are welcome if you are interested, come on out, regardless of your age!

3D Shoots – Congratulations to our members who have attended recent shoots in Nanaimo and Duncan.- Also Congratulations to Bernie Van Gylswyk who has been sponsored by Alpine Archery!

Work Party July 23rd - Please come out and help us get the butts on all our ranges repaired for better use for all of us. We will be cleaning up the old butt shelter on the 900 (upper) range. So lots of hands are needed if you could bring along some wrenches and a hammer, but mostly just yourself and a pair of gloves. We will be repairing all the butts.  This is an ‘all club’ affair, we everyone uses the butts!

Outdoor Range Maintenance – It’s that time of year again, we need periodic maintenance of the property, such as mowing the grass, weed whacking, clean up etc. please contact Al or Greg to volunteer.  While on this subject, please do not leave litter at the range, there is NO garbage pickup, so please take out with you what you bring in. And PLEASE keep dogs on a leash and pick up their droppings. The clubhouse always needs cleaning, so next time you’re taking a break, the broom is there!

Please come out and join us for our shooting times; Wednesday night (7PM) and Saturday Morning (10AM). If you’re out shooting, please introduce yourself to others, who you don’t know, we’re all in this game together!

Check the web-site at http://www.victoriabowmen.com for upcoming shoots and other club happenings. The entire listing of club contacts is there should you have any questions on any club concerns.

And finally, hope you have a fantastic archery summer!
