Hello All,

Here is the latest news about your club as of our last Board meeting Monday night, May 29, 2006.

Sad News:
We are very sorry to announce the passing of one of the most famous Canadian Archers, Mr. Don Lovo died Monday May 29th. Don served in the very highest offices of the International Archery Federation, was known as the father of archery judging, a World Team member, Archery Businessman, Judge, Coach, Administrator and someone always willing to help! He was a member of our club since moving to BC from Calgary in the 80s, he made many contributions to the club including serving on our World Championship Committee in 1997! He made a significant contribution to archery throughout the world and will be sadly missed. Our hearts go out to his wife Lois and family!

Field Course:
Good work to all those who are contributing to the great field course and bag course, including the wheelchair accessibility!! It will all do our club proud at our next 3D shoot, June 10 & 11!

Ranges Closed June 10/11:
Because of the large 3D on the 10th and 11th, the entire course will be closed except for those shooting the 3D tournament.

Congratulations Tracy:
Congratulations to our long time member and tournament chair, Tracy Klat on her wedding June 10!

Bow cases:
You are asked to always carry your bow and arrows inside cases when travelling to and from the range. Bows and arrow in the open cause too much concern to the public. The average person does not know how safe an unstrung bow is, so it is better that they don't know what you are carrying in the case!

BC Games tryouts:
June 4 at 9am practice, 10am score   cost $15, while this is a qualifying tournament for the BC Games, all are welcome, it is a great opportunity to shoot a Canadian 900 Round under tournament conditions! See you there!

JOP Assistants:
We still need all the help we can get with JOP coaching, please come out and help, all that is required is a desire to assist, the rest will come along. Once you have coached a while you can attend a Coaching Course and learn some more techniques.

Club Website:
Although transparent, we have moved our webspace to our own server, all the pictures and other features will be back soon! http://www.victoriabowmen.com

Salmon Fund Raiser:
We still have some of the specially packaged Victoria Bowmen smoked salmon, it is all vacuum sealed and make great gifts!! While they last $5.00 - Contact our PR director or ask one of the Board members out at the range, they are in the container now.

So, that's it for now! Hope to see you out at the range soon!

Cheers

Al Wills, Secretary,
The Victoria Bowmen
