JANUARY 24 2006 VICTORIA BOWMEN JOP NEWSLETTER #1

Hi Everyone,

My name is Gayle Miskosky and I am the new JOP Coordinator, at least temporarily. Any volunteers? I have updated your Indoor levels and will have them posted this Saturday morning. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of information lost. The levels I have are updated as of the end of October, 2005. I have the official list from BCAA and will post it. If you have a discrepancy, I’m sorry. I have to go with what has been found, unless you can show me otherwise. JOP Lessons are on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays are for practice only. To contact me: Gayle Miskosky Phone: 478-7374 (have machine) or, E-mail, gemsam@islandnet.com

JOP REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Date: Saturday, January 28, 2006, 9am-11am or 11am-1pm. (be on time!)

Fee: $2.50 (for BCAA) please have correct change

This Saturday, we will be shooting the first tournament of the year.

Each JOP Member can shoot a score. If you are not yet a member, bring your membership form and fees with you on Saturday. (You can print membership form from web-site, www.victoriabowmen.com under Club Forms).

Each JOP member competes at the level for which they received their last badge; for example: a person having received their Bowman badge, will shoot as a Bowman on the 60cm target and can qualify for their Archer.

The appropriate targets are:

Beginners through Junior Archer 80cm

Bowman through Master Bowman 60cm

Master Archer through Olympian 40cm

There are no classes for equipment or ages. The scores count toward the next level if a qualifying score is shot. Since this is a tournament, only one score is needed. This tournament is provincewide, and will be run officially with whistles, etc., so the kids will get used to these conditions. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st through 5th place as when received after the scores are mailed, tallied and awarded by the JOP Chairperson. There is a $2.50 charge for this tournament that must be collected before the shoot starts. The fee is for BCAA, not Victoria Bowmen.

(**Note: If you are unable to attend on Saturday, call me and we’ll arrange for you to shoot on Tuesday, Jan.31st or Thursday, Feb.2. from 7pm 9pm) The tournament is a week-long event and ends Feb.3, 2006. To shoot Tuesday or Thursday, you must make prior arrangements with

coordinator)

JOP MAIL MATCH

Those shooting JOP Mail Match have Saturday, Jan.28 and Tuesday, Jan.31 to submit a score. If you are shooting the JOP Regionals and JOP Mail Match on Saturday or Tuesday please tell me and write "Mail Match" on your score card so I can record your score for both. Must be a member to shoot a score.

SET-UP AND TAKE-DOWN

If your shoot time is Saturday at 9am 11am, then arrive for set-up and to organize your equipment at 8:45am. If your shoot time is Saturday at 11am-1pm, arrive at 10:45am to organize your equipment. Take-down will then be at 12:45pm so we are done at 1pm. Parents are needed to help with set-up, scoring, organization and take-down. Please don’t just drop off your kids we need your help.
