May 2005 Newsletter

Another busy archery summer, the range has never been in better shape, so come out and enjoy!

Membership Directory required
The club is in need of a volunteer to take over the duties of the membership director, this is a very important position being vacated by our hard working Lorrie Sommerville, who is moving at the end of June. You would become a part of the team that is the Victoria Bowmen board, coordinating new members, collecting fees, issuing membership cards, coordinating memberships with the BCAA membership secretary. It sounds daunting, but once organised it can be accomplished in a few hours a week. If you are interested, please contact the President, Greg Birtwistle at 592-1950 or reply to this email.

For that matter its time to start thinking about how you can help the club, we can use some new blood on the board the elections are in September so contact the President or reply to this email to find out more.

Canada Cup a Success
Congratulations to Tracy Klat and her crew for hosting a most successful Canada Cup, we had a full field of archers from as far away as Ontario, great weather and many Canadian records scores. Results are on the website.

Queen Victoria Target/3D also a Success
Another great day greeted the Canadian 900 and 3D shooters for our annual event. A great turn out for both events! Mary Wills coordinated a great mid day lunch, with Andy manning the BBQ!  Results are on the website.

Garbage
You are again reminded that the club does not have garbage collection, if at all possible, please take your garbage out with you, if you leave it, it only means someone has to clean it up!

Dogs
Also remember to keep dogs on a leash and clean up after them, someone's dog left a messy gift for us on the FITA field this week!

Thanks to Al Wills for fixing the steps on the clubhouse.

Our next event is the JOP outdoor tournament June 26th, we can still use some help, if you can lend a hand, call Cliff at 391-0141.

Check out the updates to the website, (www.victoriabowmen.com) you can now find all the VB forms from expense forms to membership forms. If you have any suggestions for the site, contact the webmaster at this address.

Next Victoria Bowmen Tournament:
FITA Star June 11 & 12 Registered for Canadian records, you know if you can shoot these tournaments
Canadian 900 June 12, a great type of tournament, distances and categories for all competitors, these are fun tournaments and a great way to get started in target style archery, if you've been shooting for around 6 months or more, you should consider trying this tournament.

So, that's it for this month, if you have any questions or suggestions, just contact us. Next club Board meeting is: June 27, you are welcome to come and observe if you are interested in how the club runs!

Have a great archery summer!
