Victoria Bowmen Newsletter August 2005

Annual General Meeting:

The Club's Annual General Meeting is Monday September 26 7:00PM at the clubhouse, snacks will be served. This is probably one of the most important meetings in the club's history. With our annual rental (including taxes) approaching $18000.00 next year, the club simply cannot survive without some drastic action by all of us. Dues will HAVE to go up, by how much will have to be discussed. We are also looking for volunteers, if you wish to serve on the 2006 board, please contact, the President, Greg Birtwistle at 592-1950. No experience necessary just a love for our sport!

Proposed Club Dues:
Due to rising costs, annual dues will have to increase, the Board of Directors is proposing the following dues structure to be effective January 1, 2006 (with renewals starting September 1) Note: The cost of annual insurance is $26.00 per person, which the club has to pay to BCAA.
Single Membership                            $160/year
Couple (2 persons - same address)     $240
Family (3 or more same address)        $280

Dan Mawer Memorial Shoot:
Dan (Danny) Mawer was a very successful junior tournament archer who was a member of the club in the late 60s, early 70s. He died tragically in a car crash in the fall of 1976, he was well liked (& loved) by all and a close friend of most archers in BC. The club used to host a memorial shoot in his name, but haven't until this year, when we will be hosting it again. The shoot is a 1200 round (5 ends of 6 arrows at 70,60,50 and 40 metres for senior and junior men, 60,50, 40, 30 metres for senior, junior women and cadet men, 30, 25, 25, 20 metres for Pre-Cub Men, Pre-Cub Women, Distances for Peewee Men and Peewee Women may vary. This is a fun shoot and a good social event for the end of summer for all of us! Please join us on Sunday August 28th at 10AM

 Fund Raising/Volunteers required:
The club is planing more fund raising activities for the next year to help the financial situation, some ideas so far are:
- Fundraising auction/dinner
- Raffles
- Hosting more large tournaments especially 3Ds (hopefully some large ones)
All of these will require a lot more workers than we have now, so please help out.

Many of the club butts (especially in the field) require fixing, this has to be done by us, there is no one else. A work party will be called soon, so please make every effort to be there!

Garbage:
Please remember the club does NOT have garbage pick up, so what you bring in you must take out with you!

Dogs:
Thank you to those who clean up after their dogs, HOWEVER, the bags do not go in the toilets, the bags cause the pumper to become clogged and extra costs to us!

Minutes of meetings:
You can find the minutes of all club meetings on the club website: ..\..\minutes\minutesindex.htm

Hope to see you all at the AGM! Remember September 26, 7:00 PM Clubhouse! Lastly, please take a moment to put something away in the clubhouse whenever your out there!

Thank you from your Board of Directors
