Victoria Bowmen Newsletter November 2004
Hello All,
Here is the
news from our last Board Meeting, November 29th, 2004 - Note to
Board Members the next meeting is January 24th 2005
If you've
happened by the range lately, you've no doubt noticed the 12 metal
shelters that have arrived in the parking lot. These were generously
donated to the club by Ridley Development and will soon be fixed up and
placed at various places on the range as shooting shelters to protect us
in the rainy season. Thanks to Rick Scammell, Bruce Somers, Steve Somers
and Al Wills for the 2 days of work to get them there!
Also our
sincere thanks to Colquitz school for the donation of archery equipment,
which the club will put to good use!
Range Closed Signs
From time
to time the range must be closed for maintenance and while workers are
in the bush! When you arrive at the range, it is your responsibility to
check the 'Welcome to Victoria Sign' to see if the closed sign is there.
The sign has 2 sides on that closes the field courses and one that
closes all the ranges, be sure to check and do not shoot until the sign
has been removed.
A safety
reminder is always timely, remember that the bow should never be drawn
above the level of the target, an archer must take every precaution that
should an arrow get away it is not at such and angle to go above the
butt. Never shoot over the butt or in the air!

FITA I Tournament December 7th
Our next
Tuesday shooting night will be a tournament, a registered indoor FITA I
18M 60 arrow round will be shot, I think the fee is about $10 or $15,
everyone is welcome, or come out and watch! Pre registration is
required, to pre-register and for information contact Tracy (tournaments@victoriabowmen.com)
Christmas Turkey Shoot
Come on out to the outdoor range December 11th 1:00 PM sharp -
$5 shooting fee - Prizes are, of course, Turkeys!!! Novelty targets all
age/equipment groups welcome and there is no advantage to any type of
equipment or shooting style!
The
Christmas party for the JOP is immediately after, for the fun bring a
gift, wrapped, something you do not want, but still may be used! DO NOT
buy a gift. I could be silly, funny or not. For info call Cliff 391-0141
Clubhouse
Remember
the club house is for all of us, please leave it cleaner than you found
it, whenever you have a minute, please help to clean it up a bit! There
is no garbage pick up at the range, so please take your garbage home
with you.
Indoor Shooting Ends for 2004.
Our last
shooting night for 2004 is Saturday December 4th (Tuesday the 7th is the
tournament). The first shooting time for 2005 is Tuesday January 4th. We
regret that the school is not available during December.
