Report on the Fun Shoot July 31, 1999

On Saturday, July 31, 1999, we held a "3D Fun Shoot" for the JOP members and parents who wished to participate. As we only thought up the idea for a 3D Fun Shoot 2 weeks prior to July 31st, we weren't certain we could pull it all together. But after a whirlwind brainstorming session while sitting on the FITA field, we had details worked out, a menu planned, shopping schedule --- we worked as a "true team"! Thanks to Cliff Allan, Daryl Barter, Alice McCrea, Dave Ireland, and Lorrie Sommerville ó for organizing a super fun-filled event. Cliff made arrangements with John Clark for the use of the 3D animals, and for assistance from the Bowhunters to guide the JOP archers through the course. Thanks to Kelly McKeown and Mike Hughes for their help. Alice and Lorrie went shopping for the groceries. (If you ever need to stay "under budget", take Alice shopping with you. For a young woman she has the knack of finding the "deals" and staying on track no unnecessary purchases!!) Thanks to Dave Ireland ó our Head Hamburger Cooker, and Sylvia Torres-Bonet for all their help with the food preparation and clean-up. Thanks to Vincent Van Schaik for volunteering to give Dave a break at the BBQ! A special thank-you to our JOP parents who donated chips, cheezies, dessert items, etc. All of the food was devoured by the hungry hordes.

We had approximately 34 archers come out to participate in our shoot. Everyone seemed to enjoy the event and have asked us to do it again next year. Who knows. Maybe we'll attempt a larger JOP Outdoor Fun Shoot and include Up-Island and Mainland clubs. We'll keep you posted!!!
