Victoria Bowmen Newsletter June/July, 2006
Hello, here is the latest Victoria Bowmen news as of our Board meeting June, 26th.
Newsletter format:
You will note a new format and a new service with this issue, your email address has been added to our list and will be saved there as long as you want to receive our information. You can unsubscribe or change you address anytime by following the prompts found in this document. You or anyone else can subscribe any time by following the links from the club’s webpage.
Thank you to Dave Perkin for the generous donation of 3D animals to the club.
Judge Clinic:
The Cowichan Bowmen (Duncan) are considering hosting a judge clinic in the fall, if you are interested, please contact Tracy tournaments@victoriabowmen.com
Annual General Meeting:
Please mark your calendar – the Club’s AGM will be September 26th 7:30 PM at the club house. This where you can find out how the club functions and have input on the election of the next Board of Directors. We need volunteers to assist us in the running of the club, if you have a few hours a month to lend to the club, it would be most appreciated. Contact Al, secretary@victoriabowmen.com
JOP
A subcommittee has been formed to reorganize the JO Program, if you have input for the committee, please contact Mary at social@victoriabowmen.com or 474-4909. A meeting of JOPs and parents will be held later in the summer or fall before the JOP indoor starts up again in October.
New Berm
The club will be building a new earthen berm behind the 900 field in order to increase safety and decrease the loss of arrows. Work should start soon.
Taxes
We have just received our tax bill from the city of Colwood of over
$9,000.00, so if your wondering where your membership dues go, that is a
large part of it!
Salmon Fundraiser
We still have some packages of smoked salmon in Victoria Bowmen packages, they make a great gift and the packages can be used for mailing by just adding address and postage.
The club is pleased to announce that we will be providing assistance for members who are competing in above Provincial level tournaments this year, they include:
Greg Durward, Lynne Durward, Angela Cramer, Tracy Klat, Sophie Roberts and Ken Cameron to the Canadian Championships in Quebec.
Bernie Van Gylswyk to the Canadian 3D Championships in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Christopher Clark, Bradley Clements, Josh Fyfe and Allison Weick to the BC Games and
Rick Scammell to the World Field Championships in Sweden.
Upcoming Tournaments
The next tournament at the club is a FITA Star/900 round on July 22/23. The FITA runs both days with the 900 on Sunday. 900 rounds are a great way to be introduced to tournaments, they have different distances per age group and only 90 arrows for the entire round. The 900 is shot along side the FITA. If you are interested contact Tracy at: tournaments@victoriabowmen.com
Next Board Meeting:
The next Board of Directors meeting will be July 24th 7:30 PM at the clubhouse. This meeting will be where the nominating committee will discuss the nominations to the next board, if you can help, please contact Al or the President.
