Victoria Bowmen Newsletter November 2005
Here is the
news as of our Board of Director's Meeting November 21st
Thank you for
the group who cut down and bucked up the dangerous trees behind the 900
range and else where, your work is appreciated!
INDOOR
BUTTS:
We are aware of
concerns with the indoor butts and are looking into solutions, it is hard to
strike a balance of butts that everyone can help move and still stop arrows.
Our previous butts were much to heavy and were dangerous to move.
Suggestions gratefully accepted.
COACHING CLINIC:
Here is your
chance to get started in archery coaching by attending the Archery Beginner
Coaching Course on Salt Spring Island December 17 & 18, 2005. The local
contact is Greg Durward (250) 537-0749. The cost is $90 including materials,
the club will assist those interested.
JOP AND
BEGINNER LESSONS:
We have to
address the lack of coaching on Saturday mornings and shooting nights, with
that in mind we are asking all parents and anyone interested in helping out
to come to a special meeting at John Stubbs School just before shooting
starts next Tuesday night (November 29th) at 7PM. We will discuss, training
some coaches, how you can help out, how your kids can learn archery faster
and safer and how we can improve the delivery of archery at the club. Please
come out and tell everyone who may be interested to comeout also. We
especially want to improve and continue our JOP program, but if you have
ideas for (or wish to set up) beginner lessons for 3D/Hunting/Compound etc,
please also come out and help us in this first meeting.
We will be
holding clinics for archery assistants probably in December and early in the
new year, let us know if you are interested.
INDOOR
TIMINGS:
Just to
clarify, all shooting times indoors are for all members on a first come
first served basis. You are welcome to shoot any night and Saturday
Mornings. It may get a bit cozy at times, but that is why you can get 4 or
more targets on a butt!
ARCHERY
GOLF NOV 26:
A whole week
without archery!! Instead of withdrawal, you can go out and try archery golf
at the range on Saturday morning 10 to Noon - Archery Golf is fun and really
different!
CHRISTMAS TURKEY SHOOT:
Sorry to report
that we just couldn't find anyone to coordinate this shoot this year, so it
is cancelled, our Junior rep is looking into hosting a Valentines shoot. If
you have some suggestions, let her know.
MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL:
It's getting
closer and closer to year end, please make our membership director's job
easier, renew now and save her the work! Shirley at:
swong@auracom.com 727-0556. Don't be
without insurance, get it renewed now!
NEW
WORLD RECURVE WOMEN'S RECORD:
The Koreans
have done it again! Park Sung Hyun has smashed her own
record of 1388 by shooting an incredible 1405, considering the Women's
compound record is 1401, this is truly a monumental show of skill!
