THE VICTORIA BOWMEN ASSOCIATION

Minutes Board of Directors Meeting June 6, 2011

1. Call to order: – the meeting was called to order by the President at the Wills’ residence, at 7:40 PM

2. In attendance:  Al Wills, Bruce Somers, Helena Myllyniemi, George Trattner, , Tracy Klat and Mary Wills.

Absent:  Larry Gagnon, Marlee Loiselle (Mary Wills recorded the minutes)

3. Chairman’s opening remarks:

Al welcomed all attendees, Still busy times dealing with all the necessary steps to get working on the range again. Al went over the next steps and the updated site plan we hope to be back to View Royal for another meeting the week of the 13^th of June.

Helena asked about St Michael’s School’s camps for the next week, it is thought that such use is not appropriate until more work is done. The camps will be cancelled.

4. Correspondence:
   1. Various inquiries (8) as to shooting times, lessons and groups.
   2. Correspondence with Island Surveying and Enkon Environmental.

5. Approval of Minutes of the Previous Meeting:

M Tracy /2^nd Helena, that the minutes of the previous meetings (May 2^nd and 18^th) be adopted as posted- Carried.

6. Reports - Round the table:

• Tournaments (Tracy) No report;
• Treasurer (Helena)  – Submitted the financial sheet. Working on a possible advanced course for those who have taken previous classes.
  • Possible another 5 week session at Sannich
  • Al & Bruce reported on their meeting with Pearkes recreation, they were not interested in continuing our programs.
• (VP) Bruce – The sign is now up – no feedback from neighbours.
  • Is still looking at a swing gate for the range.
• Equipment (George) – No report.

New Business:

Work Party:

July 16^th (Saturday) completely remove everything from the container, inventory and perform maintenance, work on the 2 permanent butts (add Donnaconna), replace centres if required, reorganize and repack neatly.

-        Follow up with a fun field round on the new field,

-        A Archery Garage sale, members can sell excess equipment

-        George will order Donaconna, Bruce will pick it up

-        BBQ on completion of the work party.

The Board discussed methods to engage new members, it was agreed to introduce a scoring routine at club shooting times.

Al reported that the club now has a presence on Facebook and Twitter. Thank you Larry!

7. Disbursements: to remove extra funds from our investment vehicles to General Revenue, M Tracy/2^nd Bruce CARRIED

8. Time and Place of Next Meeting: June 16^th  2011 9:00PM, at the Range before the Work Party

1. Annual General Meeting will be September 26^th, location TBA

9. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.
