THE VICTORIA BOWMEN ASSOCIATION
Minutes Board of Directors Meeting August 09, 2010

1. CALL TO ORDER

Meeting was held at the Church of the Advent 510 Mount View, Victoria, BC, called to order by the President at 1937.

In attendance: Helen Myllyniemi, Al Wills, Mary Wills, Marlee Loiselle, Tracy Klat,
Larry Gagnon, and George Trattner

Absent: Bruce Somers, Greg Birtwistle, Sonya Bell, Doug Bell Bruce Reed .

2. CHAIRMAN’S OPENING REMARKS

The Chairman thanked everyone for coming out. Discussions are continuing with the View Royal property beside the YDC and Vic Bowmen is close to signing a contract. At this time the property leases are on a year to year basis, Victoria Bowmen is requesting a 2-3 year lease.

3. CORRESPONDENCE

- Various emails/phone calls regarding shooting, lessons etc. Lesson inquiries are being referred to Pearks and Commonwealth Pool.

4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

5. REPORTS:

a) DND Rep – Doug Bell – no report
Doug dropped off a cheque for $200.00 from Malahat Fish and Game Club for the rental of Vic Bowman animals.
b) Social – Sonya Bell – no report
c) Membership - Larry Gagnon – around 40 members to date. There was discussion on 2011 Victoria Bowmen membership fees. Larry was asked to reduce the membership fees by 10% and bring forward the fee structure for further discussion at the September 20th, 2010 AGM.
d) Treasurer – Helena – 8/9/10 Balance Sheet was circulated.
Classes at Pearks and Commonwealth Pool have been very popular in July and August.
Helena has had many inquiries for adult archery classes.
Victoria Bowmen made a $50.00 donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Perry Cosgrove.
e) Equipment – George Trattner – nothing new to report. George mentioned that he will be available soon to teach adult archery classes if people are interested.
f) Tournaments - Tracy - Tournaments – nothing new to report
g) JOP – Mary Wills – nothing new to report
h) Bruce Reed – no report

6. BUSINESS ARISING FROM MINUTES

None.

7. NEW BUSINESS

1. Al presented a map of the new Archery Range in View Royal which showed the proposed field layout for target and field. Al suggested that in anticipation of the new View Royal Archery site be available for shooting in late August/early September, the club start with Wednesday Night shooting. All present agreed. Al shared that the containers will be moved to the site in the next couple of weeks.
2. Al reported that the Victoria Bowmen website has been fixed and is up and running.
3. Al reminded everyone to have a written report for the AGM covering what you have done and what you would like to do in the upcoming year.
4. Helena checked with Commonwealth Pool about the possibility of tagging evening shooting onto her current classes but the only available night is Sunday.
5. 2010-11 Indoor shooting will be Tuesday night 8-10pm at Sangster School.
