Minutes Board of Directors Meeting April 19, 2010

 

  1. CALL TO ORDER

 

            Meeting was held at the Church of the Advent 510 Mount View, Victoria, BC, called to order by the President at 1935.

 

In attendance: Helen Myllyniemi, Al Wills, Mary Wills, Sonya Bell, Bruce Somers, Marlee Loiselle

 

Absent: Tracy Klat, Bruce Reed, Greg Birtwistle, Doug Bell and Larry Gagnon.

 

2. CHAIRMAN’S OPENING REMARKS

 

            Thank you for coming out, wish this could be more of a ‘Good News’ meeting, however the search for a new home is still ongoing. The Chairman continued giving an update on the efforts being expended to allow the club to shoot at the old Victoria Pistol Range in View Royal. The Victoria Bowmen presented at the last meeting of the Parks Board, we were positively received, however it doesn’t appear anyone will be allowed on the property until it is remediated, which could be more than a year. We are hoping that they Parks Board may find the site suitable for an archery range on completion, however this is far from a ‘done deal’.

 

3. CORRESPONDENCE

 

-        Westshore recreation.

-        Judy Maynard.

-        Family sport and recreation festival.

-        Various emails/phone calls regarding shooting, lessons etc., referred to Pearks and

5. REPORTS:

 

a)      DND Rep – Doug Bell – no report

b)     Social – Sonya Bell – nothing to report

c)      Membership - Larry Gagnon – 19-04-2010 membership was circulated

d)     Treasurer – Helena – nothing to report

                                                    i.     Classes are going good at Pearks and Commonwelalth Pool.

e)      Equipment – George Trattner – No report

f)      Tournaments - Tracy - Tournaments – no report

g)     JOP – Mary Wills – No report

h)     Bruce Somers – tried to track down a piece of land by the Young Offenders (View Royal) for a possible lease.  Bruce is in contact with Bob Brandle.

 

6. BUSINESS ARISING FROM MINUTES

 

Correction to Disbursements – should read $354.21 should be for the purchase of FCA targets.

 

7. NEW BUSINESS

 

  1.  Malahat is having a 3D short in July and would like to rent some of Vic Bowman animals.  Bruce motioned that in theory Vic Bowman support the lease of 3D animals for the July shoot.  Greg and Bruce will come up with a cost suggestions.  Mary Wills seconded the motion – all in favor.
  2. There is a new key for the indoor containers – Al will distribute
  3. Outdoor shooting hours will be Saturday from 10 – noon.
