6.5. Membership:
Lorrie submitted the following report:
As at June 27, 2005, we have 203 members (81 are JOP members). This is “up” considerably over last year. More families are joining the club, and based on the number of phone calls I’ve received, we should see more people joining in the next few months as their other sports start to wind down.
This is my last ‘official’ meeting as Membership Director for Victoria Bowmen Association. Shirley Wong has agreed (read ‘been arm-twisted’) to fill the position for the club. Thank you, Shirley.
It has been a pleasure to be a member of the Victoria Bowmen executive over the past years, and I’ll miss the interaction with all of you. Don & I will be renewing our membership with the club next year, and plan on attending as many shoots as possible. So it’s not really good-bye – you can’t get rid of me that easily!! – just a long-distance relationship with Victoria Bowmen.
I will be in Victoria until the end of August. If you’re ever in the Seattle area, or want to come down to shoot any of the tournaments in Washington State, there’s always room at our house! Best wishes for future club endeavours. To use an “Angela” quote, “may all your arrows fly straight”.
Yours in archery,
Lorrie Starkweather (nee Sommerville)

6.6. Tournament:
The June FITA and Canadian 900 went well in my absence; Thank-you to all the club members that helped out. Our summer shoots are July 10/11 and August 13/14 are FITA Stars with a Canadian 900 Round on Sunday. Canadian 1200 Round on August 28th.
Club Products: sold $182 worth of items on Sunday. Our young JOP archers looked great in their club shirts. We are sold out of Club hats and would like to place an order for 12 more.
6.7. JOP:
Cliff reported that Sunday was the best JOP Championship ever. The numbers were down from last year’s 58, with a total of 49 shooters competing.
I would like to thank Andy Gojmerac and his crew for the food. A big thanks to Vanessa Steffens and Gayle Miskosky for all the draw prizes;. Every kid received a prize. The DVD/VCR player ($100 + value) was won by Norman Nelson of Greenwood. All the parents were a great help.
The judging fees were waved and their lunches were on us. The BCAA covers their travel costs.
I’m planning on doing more fun shoots and I hope to do two 3D shoots on the FITA field. The first 3D I hope to hold on July 23rd. I will be doing extra coaching on Tuesday’s and Thursday s.
I am seriously thinking of taking two years off due to personal and health problems.
