Judges

Next Shoot
April 17 and 18 FITA STAR
BC Game Tryouts
If Cowichan Bowmen are unable to host the tryouts, may we host the 900 on May 30th? It will only be a small amount trying out. Anyone is welcome to shoot the 900 round with us.
Action: Council agreed the possibility of hosting the 900 shoot in the event that Cowichin Bowmen are unable to, should be pursued.
6.7. JOP:
Cliff Allan reports that we have started on the FITA Field on Saturdays, 9:00 to 12:00 and we have shot twice outdoors. The first Saturday with 24 kids and the second Saturday with 30. I will phone those who have not showed up for outdoors. If every kid in JOP comes we could have over 60. This is a problem as there is only myself and Curt coaching. We need help with coaching. Anyone who would like to help; please come. You do not need to be a coach, just come and learn.
On the Saturdays there is a FITA, there will be more than the 900 field can take. There could be up to 7 or 8 per butt. These times will be fun shoots.
Parking: I’ve told people to park on the outer parking lot. Once the 900 field is able, we will park there.
New people: I will take them on Sundays 1:00/2:00 pm. Once we have Daylight Savings Time, JOP will also be shooting on Tuesday and Thursday nights, 6:00/6:30 pm to dark. I should be able to have new people then, also.
This year JOP is going to be very busy and we are the host for the JOP Outdoor Championships June 27. I am going to have a meeting of the JOP parents for this shoot. I plan to have one of the best and biggest JOP Outdoors.
COMMONWEALTH PLACE: We are just finishing up. I hope Sophie can help me next year. Without her, I could not get there. We have had a few join JOP.
FITA Field: I have started cutting the grass and fixing the butts. I could use a gas float, for this year $50.00, as the price is going up. The Deere had a flat tire and is now fixed. I thank Bruce for trying to fix it, however, it has an inner tube. For the butts. We will need to get more board cut to fix them. Some time in the next two months we should order 100 sheets. Also, we need to get six (6) 2X8” 9’ long and ten (10) 2X6” 6’ long studs and a can of white paint. I will cut and paint them once I have them. There are many that are rotted or splitting. We need new butt numbers, 1 to 20; they must be the yellow on black, 30 cm, FITA Rule.
I will try to cut the grass when there is no one shooting; weekdays in the morning. I cut once a week. If you do come and I am cutting, please shoot safely or the field will be closed.

7. Ad.hoc: Al Wills reported the possible selling of Federal Lands. Al Wills and Bruce Somers will be looking into the effects of this action in regards to the Archery Range.
8. New Business
8.1. re: Possible disposal of Federal lands; Colwood Parks land use meeting regarding issues of land use, noted that the minimum time for the loss of use of this land is four years. There is a need to try and make aware, to the right parties of concern, that the Victoria Bowmen Association has been using this land since 1965. We are in well position for a better foothold for this property, however, this will (probably) be the first property to go in the list of Federal Lands for disposal.
A meeting with the Football Association proposed a joint venture into building a building at Juan de Fuca. Building and management of it would be taken care for us.
There is a need for raising of funds and for cost saving measures. Also, lighting issues written into proposal for football and archery will need to be discussed once we've entered into an agreement with Juan de Fuca. We need to be in close communication with them to ensure our needs are met.
8.2. Discussion regarding club clean-up; BBQ lunch planned to start at 12:00 noon. A burning permit will be needed as will a need for policing the burning, if clean cardboard is included. A job list could be posted for scheduling volunteers.
8.3. Discussion regarding the need for locks to be changed so that all locks use the same key, therefore minimizing the number of key/lock replacements due to lost keys.
Motion by Al Wills that new locks for all lockables be obtained; all locks to work with one key. Seconded by Bruce Reed. carried.
8.4. There will be representatives from a U.S. Archery magazine visiting the JOP shoot this Saturday to view our facilities.
8.5. Open discussion regarding Team competition fun shoots.
9. Disbursements:
9.1. Payment to Bruce Reed of $172.33 by Lorrie in cash for repair equipment.
9.2. Payment to Cliff Allan of $50.00 by Lorrie in cash for gas float. Victoria Bowmen cash receipt issued.
