  1. Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.
  2. President’s opening remarks.
    Al Wills welcomed everyone to the first meeting of the new executive.
  3. Minutes of the August 22, 2001, meeting were circulated.

    Moved by Bruce Somers, seconded by Tracy Klat, "that the minutes be adopted as circulated." Carried
  4. Business Arising From the Minutes:
    1. Tracy Klat provided an amended tournament report, as she had not submitted the FITA fees.
    2. The executive noted that Mike Hughes did receive his Life Membership.
    3. Discussion occurred regarding the Club’s constitution and bylaws with respect to Life and Honorary Memberships. Al Wills and Bruce Somers will review the documents and bring any proposed revisions back to the Executive.
    4. Dan Petitpas advised that new target bags were purchased.
    5. Cliff Allan advised that the Club Shoot was the fastest 900 Round he’d witnessed in quite a few years. Sixteen shooters participated and everyone had fun. Requests have been made for the Club to host more 900 rounds.
  1. Correspondence:
    1. Lorrie Sommerville received an email from an archer in Scotland looking for information on clubs in British Columbia, specifically on the lower mainland. This person found the Victoria Bowmen link on the FITA website. Lorrie provided contact info for Maple Ridge, Port Coquitlam, Abbotsford and Burnaby, as well as the link to the BCAA website.
    2. Lorrie Sommerville received an email from Wendy van Schaik requesting info on any possible alternative locations to shoot due to the range being temporarily closed.
    3. Tracy Klat received the US Archer Magazine.
    4. Al Wills received information from FCA regarding VISA application forms. Discussion occurred and forms available from Al.
    5. Lorrie Sommerville received an email from Eric Walker, Cowichan Bowmen, offering the use of their indoor/outdoor facility while we are without a "home". Al Wills emailed Eric to thank him for their generous offer.

6.6 Tournament: Tracy Klat advised that the dates for the 2002 tournament season are:

FITA Star: April 28, May 11 & 12, June 16, July 20, 21, August 24 & 25, September 7 & 8

900 Rounds: January 1 New Years Day Shoot, May 26 QV Shoot, June 23 JOP Outdoor, July 28, and September 21 Club Championships

FITA Stars: 11 FITA Stars @ $40.00 = $440.00 + GST = $470.80
900 Rounds: 4 – 900 Rounds @ $25.00 = $100.00 + GST = $107.00
Total: $577.80

6.7 Treasurer’s Report: Helena Myllyniemi provided a financial report to October 24, 2001.

6.8 JOP Rep: No report

6.9 JOP Director: Cliff Allan stressed the need for an indoor facility. The JOP Outdoor Championships will be hosted by Victoria Bowmen, June 23rd. Cliff has one more class at Commonwealth Pool for this session. Every class has been full. Cliff did one class at G.R. Pearkes complex.

6.10 Public Relations: No report

6.11 3D / Bowhunting: No report

6.12 Trophy: No report.

6.13 Social: No report.

6.14 Equipment: No report.

6.15 DND Representative: Dan Petitpas advised that there is still no word as to when we can get back onto the range. Possibility that it may not be until April or later.

6.16 Field: No report.

  1. Old Business: None
  2. New Business:
    1. Search for shooting facility: Bruce Somers and Al Wills advised that they visited the South Vancouver Island Rangers in Metchosin. Their site is set up for trap/skeet shooting, has a hall, kitchen, washrooms. However, the club has historically been a "male only" club. It hasn’t allowed women or children.

      Dan Petitpas advised that quite a few of the 3D group have been shooting at the Malahat. They have a nice 3D course, and charge a drop in fee

      Bruce Somers advised that CRD Parks does, on occasion, give permission for groups to utilize their land.
    2. Scheduling of Tournament Dates: Lorrie Sommerville requested that June 15th be kept free for JOP practice before the JOP Outdoor Championship (the week following). Discussion occurred / decision made to keep June 15th clear.
    3. Commonwealth Pool: Helena Myllyniemi advised that the Commonwealth Pool (District of Saanich) is behind by 3 payments. The Club has reimbursed Cliff Allan for his fees. We may have to distance ourselves from teaching at this facility unless payment is received. Al Wills to contact Saanich.
