1. Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.
2. Presidents opening remarks. .
3. Minutes of the December 13, 2000, meeting were circulated.
Moved by Helena Myllyniemi, seconded by Bruce Reed, "that the minutes be adopted as circulated." Carried
4. Business Arising From the Minutes
4.1 The old lawnmower has not been sold. We will attempt to sell it in the spring.
4.2 The Drill Hall is getting colder, however we are still able to shoot indoors. JOP move outdoors after the JOP Indoor Championships in March.
4.3 The New Years Day shoot was cancelled due to lack of entries.
4.4 Board members have deferred the item concerning budget planning until all members are in attendance.
4.5 Christmas Shoot: 27 people in attendance, and all seemed to have a great time. Three turkeys were won: Bruce Somers (bag), Cliff Allan (hidden), Toby Hay (flight). The JOP members and the adults enjoyed the "useless-tacky" gift exchange. Vesas very tacky "cat in the bag" was the most popular gift and was grabbed up by almost everyone. 4.6 Cliff Allan fixed the tent on the FITA field.
4.7 The woodstove, (see 8.1 Dec. 13th) has been delivered to the Clubhouse and just needs to be installed. Thank you to Denis Phaunef for making the arrangements.
5 Correspondence:
5.1 Vesa Myllyniemi advised that he received an email from Mary Ostermeier regarding the bill for JOP pins (from the JOP Outdoors).
5.2 An email was received regarding 3D and Traditional Bowhunters.
6 Reports
6.1 President: No report
6.2 Vice President: No report
6.3 Secretary: No report
6.4 Membership: Keith Pickering provided a copy of the agreement with BCAA. Keith has received a breakdown of membership from Jim Wiebe. Keith will be providing membership forms to Island Outfitters. A new membership list was provided. Discussion occurred regarding posting a membership list with the Commissionaires at the gate.
REMINDER: Please have your membership card with you when entering the base to use the outdoor facilities. The Commissionaires are required to ask for ID.
Currently have 24 members paid for 2001.
6.5 Tournament: Tracy Klat advised that the Judges Clinic went well. Thank you, Denis for the use of the room.
Judges are needed for the following Tournament dates: April 29, May 13, June 17, July 14/15, and Aug. 26.
We also require Judges for the Queen Victoria Shoot. This is a local tournament and I am hoping that our new judges would be able to do this shoot.
The QV has been changed to May 20 to correspond with the 3D shoot. The cost of all shoots will be $15 a day.
6.6 Treasurers Report: Helena Myllyniemi provided a financial report as at January 17, 2001.
6.7 JOP Rep: No report.
6.8 JOP Director: Cliff Allan advised that the JOP are doing a "twoonie" shoot on Saturday (to assist with fundraising) and they will be using the timer for practice. Cliff will remind all JOP about membership renewals. The JOP Regional Shoot will be held the 1st week of February. Cost to shoot will be $5.00 ($2.50 to Mary Ostermeier / $2.50 to our JOP for fundraising to offset costs of the JOP Indoors.)
Cliff requires approval from the Board regarding the cost of the bus and ferry. Lynch Bus lines costs approximately $350.00. Ferry costs approximately $500.00. All dependent upon number of archers attending the shoot. The parents pay for their ferry. The Board agreed in principle.
6.9 Public Relations / Newsletter: No report.
6.10 3D / Bowhunting: Bruce Reed advised that another new course has been laid out with ribbon. Requested approval to purchase 500 of metallic ribbon ($15). Board approval to purchase 1 roll to try out. Two signs are out at the Clubhouse: "Follow ribbon course from post to line" etc.
March 4 is the Point Shoot. May 20 is the Queen Victoria Shoot.

7. Old Business: None
8. New Business:
8.1 The porta-potty on the FITA field needs to be stabilized as it has a tendency to rock or sway when inhabited. (No we dont want to use it for an amusement ride and charge admittance.)
8.2 A "thank-you" letter will be sent to the Chiefs and Petty Officers Mess regarding the use of the facility for our judges clinic. Keith Pickering to get the correct contact info from Denis Phaunef; once this info is received, Lorrie will send out the letter.
8.3 Cliff Allan put forward for discussion the idea of the Club holding an Open House in May to promote archery and encourage new members. Board decided to hold an Open House on May 27, 2001, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
