Victoria Bowmen Executive Meeting


April 4, 2000

  • 1. Meeting called to order at 7:45 p.m.

    2. President's opening remarks.

    3. Minutes of the February 29, 2000, meeting were circulated.

    Moved by Bruce Somers, Seconded by Tracy Klat, "that the minutes be adopted as circulated." Carried

    4. Business Arising From the Minutes:

      1. Donaconna: Cliff Allan advises that the donaconna was delivered, (albeit to Al Wills house as opposed to the Club.)
      2. Lawnmower: Bruce Somers advises that he bought the John Deere tractor/lawnmower, and remained under the budgeted amount. Bruce will take the old lawnmower back to LB Woodchoppers. As we need a trailer for the new tractor, discussion occurred and it was decided that the Club will purchase Al Wills' trailer from him.

    5. Correspondence:

      1. Lorrie Sommerville advised that the information package was returned to the Victoria Sports Hall of Fame group with our list of potential nominees.

    6. Financial Report:

    A verbal financial statement was provided by Mary Wills.

      5. Membership: Al Wills advised that he has received 75 renewals, plus 6 tonight. Total paid memberships to date = 81
      6. Tournament: Tracy Klat advised that first FITA will be held at the end of the month. No registrations have been received for Canada Cup as yet.
      7. JOP: Cliff Allan advised that approximately 30 JOP kids started outdoors on April 1st. We are busy getting ready for the JOP Outdoors and the Queen Victoria shoots. Cliff will be encouraging the brand new JOP kids to come out on Sundays, as it is less busy than Saturdays. Cliff would like to set a new record for attendance at the JOP Outdoor Championships. We hope to use all 20 butts, and we need 30 new targets, new scorecards, and will need 3 timers. Cliff would like to do a team shoot, similar to the World’s. We will attempt to billet kids from Powell River, Hope and Chilliwack, and we are also looking into arranging for pick up at the ferry. Cliff hopes to use the tent for food and registration, etc. Mike and Susan have already agreed to be officials.

        Cliff advises that we had 19 JOP kids compete at the Indoor Championships in Abbotsford. The results will be on the board as soon as the awards are received. All of our kids shot their personal bests.

      10. Trophy: No report.
      11. Equipment: No report — other than the new lawnmower has been purchased.

    1. Old Business:
      1. Signage: Tracy Klat has not given Bruce Reed the templates for the new signs as yet.
      2. Work Party: Tracy Klat has scheduled a Work Party for May 6th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Discussion occurred as to the types of jobs that need to be done. Further discussion surrounding the state of the outhouses occurred, with Bruce Somers agreeing to find info regarding outhouses/portable toilets.
    2. New Business:
      1. Storage Containers: Cliff Allan advises that the storage containers need vent holes as the condensation is building up and dripping on all the equipment and new lawnmower stored inside. Discussion occurred, with no resolution being agreed to.
      2. Al Wills advised that he has been posted to Ottawa, and that Mary and Al will be moving at the end of August. Al will be emptying his basement of Victoria Bowmen supplies. Al also advised that with he and Mary moving to Ottawa, the Club will require a temporary Membership person and a Treasurer ASAP. Al has agreed to keep the website job, as he can maintain the site from whereever he is. Alice McRae and Tracy Klat volunteered to assist Al with the Membership duties until the elections at the Annual General Meeting. No volunteers came forward for the position of Treasurer at this meeting.

    Mary Wills requested approval for the following disbursements:

    Moved by Tracy Klat, seconded by Al Wills, "That $100.00 be given to Angela Cramer for the Opening Day BBQ (May 7th)" Carried

    Moved by Bruce Somers, seconded by Lorrie Sommerville, "That Cliff Allan be provided with a float of $40.00 to cover the cost of lawnmower gasoline, etc." Carried
